Personal and Professional Development, Ethics and Medical Jurisprudence and
Patients Safety teachings are embedded longitudinally in the various modules from
year one (1) to year five (5).
21.2 Duration of MBBS Programme
a. The duration of the MBBS programme is five (5) years; two (2) years pre-
clinical and three (3) years clinical.
b. Maximum allowable duration is seven (7) years.
c. A student has a maximum of three (3) years to complete the pre-clinical
phase. Any student who has not completed this phase will be terminated
from the MBBS programme.
d. A student has a maximum of five (5) years to complete the clinical phase
(provided the student passed pre-clinical phase within 2 years). A
student who has not completed the programme after a maximum of five
(5) years in clinical phase will be terminated from the MBBS programme.
22. ASSESSMENT
22.1 Assessment Structure
a. Various assessments are conducted throughout the programme which
include components of Continuous Assessment, Final Semester Exams /
Final End-of Posting Examinations and Professional Examinations.
Continuous Assessment comprises of Seminars, Progress Test, Quiz, Case
Write Up, Presentations and Log Books; subject to assessment type.
b. The continuous assessment forms a significant part of students’
evaluation in all phases. This assessment is based on their performance
in small group sessions, seminars and case presentation, written reports,
case write-ups and logbooks.
